Kamalame Cay Bahamas launches weekend spa & wellness program

Kamalame Cay, the 96-acre, private island resort in the Bahamas, will launch a new Weekend Spa & Wellness program in early 2008. The three-night / four-day retreats will offer guests a tropical mini spa getaway highlighting daily yoga on the beach, meditation and chanting sessions and optional life coaching.

Additionally, one of the highlights of the program will be pampering treatments in Kamalame’s 2,000-square-foot aqua spa nestled at the end of a 200-foot pier.

The Spa & Wellness weekends will be hosted by New York City-based Jo Hook, founder of Avatar Yoga Retreats and Body as an Instrument, a holistic fitness program.

Complimenting the yoga program, the Spa & Wellness weekends will introduce guests to Kamalame Cay’s spa which features five treatment rooms, each suspended over the sea with walls of windows that open to expansive ocean views. A full menu of massage and body / facial treatments is available including the Coconut Body Glow, which utilizes a fresh coconut scrub, the Seaweed Botanical Wrap incorporating a gentle exfoliating sea salt scrub followed by a detoxifying seaweed wrap, or the adventurous Spiced Rum Wrap which infuses a warming spice and herb body masque followed by a gentle, cooling massage.

Each mile there will be an “Inspiration Station” where chilled water with fresh lemon or cucumber is available and an inspirational quote will be found playfully written on conch shells and coconuts. The Spa & Wellness programs will run Jan. 11-14 and Oct. 17-20, 2008.For more details on the Weekend Spa & Wellness program please call 800-790-7971, e-mail info@kamalame.com or visit http://www.kamalame.com

Delta Adds Nonstop Flights to Bahamas

According to an article on flights to the Bahamas, Delta will be adding nonstop flights to Exuma and Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

Atlanta residents are lucky because they have hundreds of opportunities daily to board a nonstop flight to destinations around the world. It's thanks mostly to Delta Air Lines' ever expanding routes. Two of Delta's new routes will please beach lovers — Exuma and Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

The Exumas are a string of mostly tiny islands spread over 130 miles; the two main islands are Great Exuma and Little Exuma. Hundreds of little harbors, bays and hidden coves are a huge draw for sailing, boating, diving and fishing. Georgetown on Great Exuma is the island's center, with shops, grocery stores and a straw market. The hotels offer some of the finer choices for dining and live music. www.myoutislands.com

The slow and laid-back island of Eleuthera is long and thin. It's just a mile at its widest and 110 miles long. Because of the distance, island locations are referred to as North or South Eleuthera. The Atlantic Ocean is on the east side; the Caribbean on the other. If you travel south from North Eleuthera you'll pass through one of the narrowest points on the island, Glass Window Bridge, with dramatic views of both seas.

On the Atlantic side of Eleuthera and just minutes from Governor's Harbour is 80-acre Pineapple Fields. This in-demand property sits on 1,000 feet of a 2-mile stretch of crescent-shaped beach. One-bedroom rentals at Pineapple Fields are $170 per night for lower-level condos and $200 for upper units. Two-bedroom units rent for $255 and $285. www.pineapplefields.com

A mile off the northeast coast of Eleuthera is Harbour Island, one of the oldest settlements in the Bahamas and today a vacation hot spot for fine resorts. The Web site, www.myharbourisland.com, has information.
